The Original Women's Mountain Bike
An update from the Juliana team: Since We Launched
Since we launched Juliana Bicycles in 2013 and introduced it in this post, we've added a few bikes (the Maverick, Roubion, and Quincy), refined a few bikes (Joplin and Furtado), and retired a few bikes. New riders and ambassadors have joined our family and we've adopted the mission to encourage more women to experience the best of mountain biking.
Now, we encourage you to check out the entire line of Juliana bicycles over at julianabicycles.com or see the bikes in action on our Youtube channel. #gojuliana
The Orignal 2013 Introduction
Let us introduce you to our sister brand Juliana Bicycles; an entirely new range of women's bikes developed by former World Champion Juliana Furtado.
In 1999, Juli launched the first ever women-specific mountain bike with the help of her friends here at Santa Cruz Bicycles. We called it the Juliana.
Today, that concept has evolved into one of the largest women’s mountain bike ranges in the industry.
From custom designed grips, bars, and saddles, to dedicated frame sizes and colors... here's a quick look at the five different models on offer:
NEVIS
The Nevis is the resident hardtail of the Juliana range. It offers 29" wheels, a lightweight aluminimum frame, interchangeable dropouts for single-speed compatibility, and sizing selections that fit riders from around 4’8” to 5’9” in height. For those riders who fall in the XS range (4'8" - 5'9") it is important to note that this size frame comes with 26" wheels.
ORIGIN
This is the bike that started it all—the Santa Cruz Juliana. Now renamed The Origin, this model still offers the combination of features that made this bike a classic, including the low-maintenance single-pivot design, 100 millimeters of rear travel, and a lightweight aluminum frame. For the new line, the Origin has evolved to run 29" wheels in all but the XS size, which runs 26" wheels.
JUNO
The latest bike from Juliana brings with it the latest in wheel size innovation. 27.5" wheels enjoy higher rolling efficiency than a typical 26" wheel, yet deliver greater maneuverability compared to a 29" wheel. The best of both Worlds, makes this 125mm single-pivot bike super fun for the trails.
JOPLIN
Santa Cruz's patented Virtual Pivot Point (VPP) suspension system takes the Juliana range into premium mtb territory from here on. In addition to 100mm of VPP travel, the Joplin comes with 29" wheels and both aluminum or lightweight carbon fiber frame options.
FURTADO
Last but very much not least comes the Furtado. Named after Juliana Furtado herself, the former "Queen of the Mountain" hands over her title to the latest in mtb technology... a special blend of VPP technology, 125mm travel, 27.5" wheels and carbon fiber or aluminum frame options makes this bike a new breed of enduro race bike winner.
