Tom Hey
Tom Hey
Tom has built everything and anything. He's the vision and handyman behind some of the world's most famous trails and features.
Tom left his hometown of York in 2003 to pursue a summer of bike park laps in Whistler. He didn't really ever go home again. For the first few years he'd built the Crankworx slopestyle course (as well as numerous other trails and stunts for professional athletes filming video parts). But soon the endless summer was calling and a trans-Pacific flight to New Zealand reset his mission.
Tom has made Queenstown, NZ home. His mission now is to connect the backcountry singletrack network around Queenstown. This work is truly big-picture thinking and takes patience but it's coming together. Trails like Rude Rock, Gold Digger, Pheonix and Glendu park are just parts of the bigger picture which will one day create an extensive interconnected trail experience.
Tom still travels the world building the Crankworx Rotorua and Innsbruck slopestyle courses, as well as hiking trails, asphalt pumptracks and film features, which is why the 5010 is the perfect bike for him to scout and test ride his creations.
