    Quality bicycles since 1994

Santa Cruz Bicycles creates category-leading downhill, cross country, and electric bikes. We design, research, engineer, manufacture and assemble the very highest quality bikes. They are so simply advanced that they make bicycling even more enjoyable and are made to last many lifetimes of real world abuse.

A History Lesson

Santa Cruz Bicycles was born out of a simple truth: the bikes we wanted to ride didn’t exist. We had a vision for mountain biking – its look, the ride, and the technology – but we knew it would never become a reality unless we built it ourselves.

Our first model, the Tazmon, was an unconventional 80mm travel, dual-suspension bike. Many said a full-suspension trail bike was dumb, but we knew mountain biking needed it. As riders, we needed it.
Our first bike model was the Tazmon—an 80mm travel, dual-suspension bike that rattled established sensibilities, and launched the Santa Cruz Bicycles brand into the full-suspension future. 30 years and 89 bike models later, we’re still pushing the envelope while remaining simply advanced.

In 1994, mountain bikes generally fell into one of two categories: road bike-inspired cross-country hardtails or heavy downhill sleds. We set out to merge the best of both worlds – a bike that could climb efficiently and then shred downhill, because that’s how we rode.

Making the best off-road bikes is what we do. Three decades and dozens of models later, that commitment is more true than ever. Our reputation is built on quality. We make the finest bikes, constantly innovate, and relentlessly pursue the perfect ride.

Rider Support

As we grew from a one-person show into a full-fledged company, we chose Rider Support as a core component of our approach. Every decision was made from the perspective of a rider, which is why we offer lifetime rider support (lifetime warranty, lifetime bearing replacement, and lifetime support on all models). It's also why we committed $1 million to the PayDirt fund to increase the access to trails. It's all to ensure better access to better biking experiences and that riders have many more great rides.

Quality Product, Quality Process.

We have our hands on every stage of development and construction of a bicycle, because we do it right here in Santa Cruz, CA. We design and engineer everything ourselves, we own our own carbon fiber frame factory and we assemble all our bikes ourselves. We grease the links, torque the bolts, gather all the parts from our warehouse using trolleys we built, and when the bikes are assembled, we put them into cardboard boxes we designed.

Reserve Wheels

We build and quality-control all our wheels in-house because we don’t want anyone’s after-work or weekend rides spoiled by bikes that squeak, fail, need babying, or give an excuse not to hit that sweet gap.
